Ch.2's psychic experiment a big success; Ferguson's game show to air on WNYO

This is what I’m thinking:

Channel 2 is carrying a NBC preview of this fall's shows at 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

I’m no psychic, but “Marry Me, “A to Z,” “State of Affairs” and the rest of the network’s new offerings would do well to equal the ratings of the experimental show it is replacing Sunday.

“2 the Unknown with Karyn Reece” averaged about a 5 rating during its four-week run at 11:30 p.m., which is better than many of NBC’s prime time programs receive.

However, there is a sporting asterisk. The average was inflated by an 8.5 rating the show received after a Buffalo Bills preseason game. But even taking that rating out, the three other programs featuring the psychic averaged a 4 rating, which is very healthy for the summer.

You may have read in The Daily Dish of this newspaper Tuesday that Craig Ferguson, who is leaving CBS’ “The Late Late Show” in December, will be hosting a new syndicated game show this fall, “Celebrity Name Game.”

The immediate question is whether it will air on a Buffalo station.

And the answer is yes. Ferguson’s show will air at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday on WNYO, more commonly referred to as Channel 49. It is replacing reruns of “Seinfeld” on the station. Ferguson’s 12:35 a.m. CBS show has been popular here over the years.

The same Daily Dish item notes that Ferguson also might host a 30-minute talk show at 7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. weekdays in the fall of 2015 that would air on at least 42 Tribune Broadcasting stations. It is too early to tell if that show will land on a station here. Tribune doesn’t own a station here, but surely will reach out to stations outside of its group.

Now that it has hired Laura Gray as the anchor and Andy Parker as meteorologist, Channel 7 has a couple of other questions to answer about its revamped morning show. Will it have a male co-anchor? And when will it start?

I’m being told whether the program will have a male co-anchor hasn’t been decided. The show will premiere in either mid-September or a little later as the station works on major technical upgrades, a new weather system and new graphics before the launch.

Why were the comments closed on the last several of your columns - specifically the Andy Parker and HOF columns- selective censoring~?

I believe it is because the blogs were moved from typepad to wordpress this week and some issues have to be addressed since the move. Everything should be fixed shortly.

Thank goodness the graphics package is being updated on WKBW... regardless of the on air talent, the broadcast seems archaic to watch in it's current form.

Merry X-mas West Seneca East ...the Refs gave you that game over Iroquois. #78 should have been ejected + 2 game suspension for shoving a ref. Also apparently you move the chains 10 yards when there is a personal foul? Very embarrassing for Section 6 to have Refs like this.
